Hangtown Kennel Club funds the "Josephine T. Pope" Memorial Scholarships for students at the U.C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.  The  scholarships were established in 1992 by Hangtown Kennel Club in memory of Jo Pope, a founder of the club and Springer Spaniel enthusiast.  They are given to students with an interest in small animal medicine and experience with AKC Club activities.  Preference for the awards are given to past or present residents of El Dorado County.  This year, HKC board member Pam Bechtold (left center) attended the ceremony and assisted in presenting the awards on May 19, 2004.
